Reducing consumption of added sugars is a recommendation made by nutrition experts and health authorities around the world, including the U.S. Dietary Guidelines for Americans and the World Health Organization. Low- and no-calorie sweeteners (LNCS) provide sweetness without calories and one potential benefit of their use is to help reduce intake of added sugars. As intake trends of added sugars and LNCS have shifted in recent decades, researchers continue to explore the related and potential health implications. One area of research that is still in its infancy is the impact of LNCS on the human gut microbiome. In this webinar you will learn about the human gut microbiome, how low- and no-calorie sweeteners interact with our gut microbiome, and what the published literature has to say about the relationship between these interactions and risk for developing type 2 diabetes.
This 60-minute webinar will include time for audience Q&A with the speakers.
